Christmas and New Year Celebration

X-mas is one of the most popular celebrations known to the whole world. Each culture has its own to impact on the X-mas. The way we celebrate X-mas is unique. Hardly the X-mas rings its jingles than the lads start with their firecrackers disturbing the sleep of the entire village. The youth start singing the X-mas carols, taking the Good News to the neighbouring villages. After the mid night mass everyone starts exchanging gifts on the arrival of Santa Claus organized by the youth group.

On the 25th day, the mother Arabian Sea calms down and inviting her children to have fun with her. In fact the whole coastal belt will be in the sea. It is a very rare opportunity of the women folk to enter the sea and enjoy a joyous rid on the 'catamaran' ( called it as 'Paavottam'). The entire morning and afternoon is spent on the sea. At about 4 pm the village again leaps for joy, People after refreshing themselves start a walk towards the west of the village. On crossing the river (Called as 'Polli'), the mass spreads over the entire beach, playing, singing and dancing with full of life and enthusiasm. The fun and frolic extends until the sun goes down.

The same happiness and celebration repeated again on 1st January. Those who could not participate on X-mas occasion join their hands on New Year.
